New Balance 790 – The Ultimate Running Shoe
The New Balance 790 is intended to be a very lightweight running shoe, especially designed for racing. However, you do not have to be a renowned athlete to be able to appreciate the comfort and style this shoe offers. Since it is more light-weight than most motion control or stability shoes, it is a true pleasure to walk or run while wearing it. The cushioning is trimmed, so you may find that it will not give you a lot of protection and support on rocky, tough and rooted routes. This is because the minimalist design was built for softer trails. You can order it in various colors, and it is suitable even for small children. There are even New Balance 790 womens shoes.
If we were to briefly state the advantages of 790, we would definitely have to say that the biggest ones are the facts that it is lightweight, breathable and flexible. On the other hand, the disadvantages you need to know about are that it can slip on wet surfaces and only comes in regular width.
The NB 790 shoe comes in many different versions, and it is built on RL-3, ideal for racing due to the narrow heel and wide forefoot. With all-terrain tread and Rock Stop plate, these running shoes are perfect for walking on natural surfaces. They are at the extreme of the lightweight pared-down trail running shoe category. The Rock Stop plate at the bottom of the shoe protects the foot from any sharp elements on the ground, even though it does not have much cushioning. More than that, it is flexible, flat and does not have a flared heel, which is great for a walking shoe.
The upper side of the 790 running shoe has a breathable Air Mesh built in. So the upper is lighter weight too, and in addition, its tongue is gusseted in order to keep out trail debris and rocks. However, as mentioned above, this running shoe only comes in regular width. So if you need an extra wide width when walking or jogging on the trail, make sure the shoe is wide enough for you to wear it for that purpose. Many people have later found out that even though the shoes fitted them well as everyday shoes to wear around at home or at work, they were not wide enough for the usual foot swelling that takes place in fitness activities such as running or hiking. Yet, you should have no problems in arranging the laces to offer less restriction to the forefoot, so that you still get proper retention for the heel. Despite this small inconvenience, bunion pain will never be experienced with the New Balance 790 shoe.
If you are looking for some shoes that you can wear when hiking, remember that the New Balance 790 trail runners are built for trail racing and thus it is not the first choice when it comes to rugged trails. While this running shoe works extremely well in town, as it is comfortable and good looking, you should think twice about the purposes you need the shoes for. The sole does not come with large and aggressive lugs, so it is quite suitable to wear around if you are the type of person who prefers sport and casual wear.
When it comes to the performance, the only flaw of the New Balance 790 mens shoe is that you may experience slipping problems on wet surfaces. Therefore, you should not count on it as a great gripper for trail surfaces. You may also feel that slight lack of cushioning, especially when standing in them for more than an hour. However, the comfort and light weight of theĀ 790 New Balance will surely make up for these minor downsides.
